The Moving Humanities Conference is back this year from the 26th to the 27th November with our 2026 edition. Moving Humanities offers a podium to graduate students from all disciplines in the humanities, and aims to promote cross-disciplinary collaborations. The conference is co-organised by Radboud University and the University of Groningen and will be hosted by Radboud University.

This year, the conference theme is Crossing(s), taken in its broadest sense, both within our subjects of research and the humanities as a whole.
Crossing something is a dynamic process that may or may not involve transitions from one state or identity to another. When borders are crossed, people with their languages, ideas and histories traverse physical distances, but there can also be intersections between physical and digital space. Reaching a metaphorical crossway means seeing and choosing between intersecting paths or possibilities and their consequences. Inter-disciplinary cross-overs lead to new perspectives when concepts and research methods from different traditions are combined.
With a theme this broad, we are sure that many potential submission topics will cross your mind!

Alongside talks and posters, the conference will feature a debate (all attendees will have the opportunity to take part) and a special panel discussion during which experienced academics will share their wisdom with the next generation.

We are now calling for abstracts for talks and proposals for an exhibition: (research) posters, print, photography, poetry etc. (specify form, size, material details in proposal). We invite any submission from (research) master and PhD students, and will give special consideration for those which fit the broad theme of Crossing(s) as defined above.
In the submission form, you can indicate if you wish your abstract to be considered for a talk (20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for Q&A) or a proposal for the exhibition (the presentation of your work with a short introduction).
Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words (excluding bibliography). Please make sure to remove any identifying information from your abstract (e.g. affiliation, names). You will provide your contact information in the submission form, but selection will take place based on abstracts alone to ensure anonymity and fairness in the selection process.

Please fill in this form by 31st July 2026 to submit your abstract. You will be notified about your abstract’s acceptance by mid-September.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the organising committee at movinghumanities@gmail.com!
